How to Play

How to Play Baker's Defense Game
1. Set up the board: Each player has 16 pieces, arranged on the board as shown in the diagram:
- 4 Pawns in the second row
- 4 Knights on the third row
- 2 Bishops on the fourth row
- 1 Queen on the fifth row
- 1 King on the sixth row
2. Move your pieces: Pieces move in specific ways:
- Pawns: Forward one square, or two squares on their first move. Capture diagonally forward.
- Knights: In an L pattern: two squares in one direction and then one square perpendicularly.
- Bishops: Diagonally, any number of squares.
- Queen: Any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
- King: One square in any direction.
3. Capture pieces: When a piece is in a square next to an opponent's piece, it can capture that piece by removing it from the board.
4. Check and checkmate: When the King is under attack by an opponent's piece, it is in check. If the King cannot escape check, it is checkmate and the game is over.
5. Draw: The game can end in a draw if neither player can checkmate the other, or if the same position occurs three times.
Tips to Increase Chances of Winning:
Control the center: Move your pieces towards the center of the board, as it gives them more options for movement.
Develop your pieces early: Bring your Knights and Bishops into play as early as possible, as they can control more squares.
Protect your King: Keep your King safe by castle early and moving it to a secure position.
Plan ahead: Think about the possible moves of your opponent and plan your own moves accordingly.
Practice regularly: The more you play, the more comfortable you will become with the moves and strategies.
